Employment Opportunities

First Baptist Church of Smithfield has a growing Worship Ministry. We are searching for a dynamic Worship Pastor with a strong musical, organizational, and oral communication skills to enlist, equip, and lead God’s people in a wide variety of music ministry opportunities. This candidate will be the primary leader of musical worship, their heart should be to equip, empower, and promote the worship and exaltation of Jesus Christ through volunteer praise teams. We are not looking for the lead singer of a Christian band, our Church is seeking God’s man to serve as a pastor with a heart for worship ministry and people.

The worship at First Baptist Church of Smithfield is about creating a corporate expression of praise and adoration that worships Jesus Christ, God’s Son and exalts the Father through the power of the Holy Spirit and truth. The Church wants to create more than a style of music or some musical performance. We want musical worship that connects our church family to God and to one another while meeting the growing needs and challenges of new music trends within our world. Our church community is best described as very relational, authentic, multi-generational and diverse. We sing hymns and worship songs from Chris Tomlin, Andrew Peterson, Cory Asbury, Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, and Israel Houghton, etc. The church wants to develop a diverse and eclectic worship experience in every service that speaks to the hearts of our worshipers and touches the heart of God. Our church is not locked into a singular style. We insist on biblical, theologically strong content, rather than popular songs. We are looking for the person whose personal walk chases God’s heart and has been gifted and given a desire to help create congregational worship and connections that can exist regardless of styles.

God’s man will craft and develop original theologically strong teaching content that equips, builds, and guides adult/student worshipers and music leaders to mature Christian growth.

Our pastoral staff works in a highly collaborative and cooperative workspace. All staff members engage in a variety of ministry areas and use their skills to develop people and assist in ministry as needed.
